Through a Cave to the Top

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, the last bit of Alagalla climb was very exciting. The above picture was taken while climbing up through the rocky cleft to the very top of Alagalla. It shows what you see, while looking down from halfway up the cave.

More interesting photos, taken during the climb are stored here.

By the way, this is how you reach at the top!

I'm not sure I could have made it through this cave, so I'm glad you took so many beautiful pictures from and through the cave. I'm very impressed with your climb.

That's a fantastic picture.
I like the way it is framed by the darker rocks (they look to me like two bowed heads). It must have been a great hike.

Great, I love caves, planing for some cave explorations at the end of the summer.

Indrani,
Thanks a lot!

Me-shak,
Many thanks :)

Loshini,
Nope. I needed both hands and legs for climbing. Then I found a small ledge to rest in the middle of the cave and took most of the photos :)
Thanks!

Magerata,
Cool, keep us posted about the caves, when you are back. Thanks.

Fantastic capture...just being aware of the fact that there are so many wonderful places to go in my own country is exhilarating.
I just came across your blog and I like it...

This is a great view. I'm not sure I would be good at climbing a place like that though. I usually travel on flatter land. I always like seeing places like that though.

I love that!

Clever photography.

Nicole,
Glad you like it :)

Patali,
Thanks for dropping by and for your comments.

Ratty,
I think you will be able to do most of it. The final part is a bit tricky.

Bonnie,
Thanks a lot :)

Rajesh,
Thanks!

Amila,
Try this mountain one day. You will enjoy it. If you are coming from Kandy, you can reach Poththepitiya via Pilimathalawa too.

Wow.. a vista through a vista.. such a breathtakingly beautiful view!

I guess this is what they call a genuine adrenaline rush.. I mean just turn around and seeing such a sheer drop right behind you.. in itself is more than enough to give you the chills. lol

did you climb through the hole? and then fall down LOL?

Linnea said...

That's quite a hike you went on. You really got some height there. Good thing it didn't start raining...slippery rocks! Thanks for showing us these.

Just beautiful. Never heard about this place. I knew Adam peak, and Siguirilla rock, which is just amazing to climb there, and really beautiful place.

Joven,
Thanks for your comments.

Cat,
Thanks very much!

Harumi,
Yes, heights give me adrenaline rush and that is the best part of the climb. It is very satisfying to see the place faraway where you started and the path you climbed. Thanks very much!

Ann,
Yes I climbed through it but won’t be here to answer you had I fallen :) Many thanks.

Linnea,
Yes luckily it was a sunny day through out the journey. It rained later but by that time we have descended enough and the difficult part was over. Thanks a lot for your comments.

Vicente,
Yes, Sigiriya and Adam’s Peak are more famous and this is a place very few people have tried to my knowledge.
Many thanks for your comments.

Gadgetgirl,
Thanks a lot for your comments :)
