This dead tree was captured in Sinharaja. Two younger trees have grown taller taking its place.

That's a great picture. I like trees and the stories they tell.
I give you another link to some pictures of trees that were shaped by the wind (they grow at about 1000m above sea level):

Lovely capture!

I have an affinity for dead trees… They are so hopelessly romantic – or maybe that’s me. ;)

To me, dead trees are like a glimpse into the past, but they're glory never fades… it just takes on a new aspect.

Reminds me of life. Excellent stuff K :D Love the green.

Cheers!

I like this. You show that nature will survive, and even thrive, if it is left to do so. Plus I like this kind of picture. I try to take similar pictures myself a lot.

Bet your Woodpeckers and other birds there LOVE that dead tree... We have a dead tree on the empty lot next to our home --and love watching all of the birds digging holes in that old tree.

The dead tree looks like a sculpture. I can see a face of a woman with an arm holding something. Kind of abstract art. Did you see what I see? Lovely post.

Thanks for the visit.

Rainfield,
Daddy must happy to see them grow :)

Loshini,
Yep, green is my best color.

Magerata,
You may have to get a tip or two from your brother ;)

Frieda,
Thanks for the link. Those trees are marvelous. Yes these trees have lot of stories to tell :)

Amaris,
I agree with you the glory of a tree grows when they get older and even when they are dead it never fades away.

Me-shak,
Thanks a lot mate :)

Ratty,
Yes, nature will thrive as long as we humans do not interfere too much

Betsy,
Yes it must be a living organism by now. It is a good place for birds too perch and pick little worms in it.

LD,
Thanks a lot :)

Bonnie,
Hey I didn't notice that but when I look at it after your comments I too saw it. very interesting :)

Beautiful glimpse into Mother Nature! I hope these young trees grow strong and tall and have a long life. Thanks for the visit to my palm trees. I have no idea what kind they are, but we have a lot of them around here in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Kirigalpoththa said...

Linnea,
Yes hope they also achieve longlife like the dead tree.
That palm picture was really nice.
Thanks a lot for your comments.

Dead trees are so unique and mysterious.. and this one's even more unique cause of its height. Beautiful capture showing death between life.

PS: This dead tree kinda looks like a scary grizzly bear turned into a super tall zombie. O__o

Chavie,
Yes what you and Losh mentioned is correct. The forst is a good place to understand the circle of life.

Harumi,
If I had come this way after dusk, 'grizzly bear turned into super tall zombie' would have send shivers through my spine ;)

Two young and strong trees to replace a legend! Who will win from this battle?

I like this picture. It is very true to life -- I'm taller than my father and my son is taller than I am!

How much I like to know what kind of critters are working at the old trunk. That dead tree is a mini echo system in its own right, and must be a very active one too.

Great POV of the shot.
