that's an impressive landscape. Your country looks truly beautiful!
Driving down into and through that valley is one of the loveliest roads I know. A walk through the hills in the distance must be magnificent.

Yes, I agree with you. This area and beyond is Kelani Valley, a wonderful area for hiking.
Further down the road you will see beautiful Saptha Kanya range on to your right. (Also the same road will lead you to beautiful Maussakelle area.)
The road up to mile post zero is incredibly beautiful with sceneries like this one. In fact that road goes much closer to the mountains (Kiripanagala or Kabaragala belongs to the same range of Saptha Kanya) shown in the picture.

This is a beautiful mountain scene. It reminds me of some of the power-generating dams in our Smoky Mountains, but your mountains seem to be much higher.

I have not heard much about hydro power in US other than gigantic Hoover Dam of River Colorado, but I’m sure power-generating dams in Smoky Mountains must be bigger than the one here.

Yes, usually during monsoon period, landscape gets greener in most part of Sri Lanka. This particular area is in the Kelani River Valley which has water 365 days. So whether raining or not this area looks always the same..green as ever :)
