First Rays of Sunlight

This picture was taken from Lower Ohiya. I had an interesting stay there for few days and managed to find out one of the shortest path to Horton Plains from A4 road via Udaveriya Estate.

You can check out more pictures of this journey thro' Anjana’s Blog.

Wow! Yes, perfect timing! :)

The composition of this capture is impressive. I love the contrast of the looming ridge vs the clouds that seem to reaching towards the rising sun...

Hi KP you manage to surprise us every time. What a beautiful work. Thank you. I went to the Horton Plains and I am certain, I took the road your friend Anjana posted a photo of. I like the Udaveriya Estate but it was enveloped in mist most of the time while we were there. I was also pleased to have found "Glasgow", "Glenanore", "Sandringham" and a few others, I liked the tea from Udaveriya the best.
Thank you again for the memories.

Awesome nature shots Kirig.! Hope that's ok to call you. Lots of adventurous hiking and camping in Death Valley. If you're ever able to make it, I'll meet you there. We share the same infatuation with the outdoors, I'd be a blast man!

Rainfield,
Yes, we got up quite early to capture this.

පිටස්තරයා,
Thanks :)

Betsy,
Actually I was kept out of hiking for some time due to work. That is why my frequency of posting has reduced last few months. Anyway won't be like this for long :)

Amaris,
We were infact staying in one side of a slope of the mountain and the sun was totally covered from the ridge. We saw the sunrays emanating from the east and it took more time to see the sun clearly above the ridge.

Chavie,
Thanks. I think you can check out Anjana's Blog for some exciting photos in the next few weeks.

Clo,
Thanks a lot :)

Magerata,
I think you have gone to Udaveriya via Bambarakanda falls. That is the only road that goes up to Udaveriya. The road Anjana has shown ends in the mid way and next half you have to walk up the mountain. It was an interesting track for me as the foot path was not very clear and we had some anxious moments finding our way out in the mountains.
Yes Udaveriya Tea is great and you are sure to find some familiar British names found in the tea country of SL.

George,
Thanks very much and glad you like it.

Shifan,
Thanks mate!

James,
No problem, you can call me that way or just 'K' :)
I will surely contact you if I ever get a chance to visit the Death Valley. Thanks a lot.

Thanks all for your comments.

Brilliant capture! The first rays against the silhouetted trees and the clear cloudless sky looks awesome. Must have been amazing to see it in real.

Yep, it was a great scenery at the top and we could see miles and miles of perfect vista

Betchai,
Yes, especially if you are in countryside you should wake up with the sun.

Dilsiri,
Excellent! I saw some of your photos in fb. Glad your dad also could do it & he must be very happy.

Thanks all for your comments.

What a different perspective of the sky and trees. It reminds me of the Sierra Mountains in California! Nice!
