KIRIGALPOTHTHA, THE SECOND HIGHEST MOUNTAIN IN SRI LANKA, IS ONE OF THE BEST HIKING ROUTES IN THE ISLAND. THIS WEBSITE UPDATES ON EXCITING PLACES FOR HIKING & CAMPING AND ALSO SHARES INFORMATION OF SOME OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL LOCATIONS IN SRI LANKA.
Wonderful photograph Krigalpoththa! How did it get the name Adam's Peak. Surely not because of Adam's Apple. It seems like it should have a more beautiful name. Nallathanni route has a lovely sound.
Carol, You can read a good description about the legend of Adam's Peak and how it got its name in this website - www.sripada.org. It is certainly related to the first man on earth, 'Adam'. As per the website, Portugese who came to Sri Lanka in 1505AD named this mountain as Adam's Peak.
The picture is kinda surreal knowing that those clouds are just about touching that peak. :D Beautiful shot, and the green montane forest adds a nice contrast to the blue sky. :)
Chavie, Sri Pada Adaviya is one of my favourite forest. Full of mysteries. The clouds are actually touching the peak. When we were up there it was covered with mist.
Betsy, I have climbed 4 times to this mountain. These pictures here were taken from the top :)
Bicocacolors, Yes, it has a fascinating history.
Frieda, Yep, it will be the tallest pyramid on earth. :D
Hi KP, as usual a brilliant capture. I recently went a hikes, climb(s) in Death Valley for a week. Helped me to think a lot and shed a lot of sadness I brought back from SL. When I see this mountain, the feeling I get is, Climb! and I will. The only other mountain to bring such feelings is Fujisan in Japan.

I like the way you have captured the peak of the mountain against that cloudy sky. The lush green of the forest is also beautiful.
George,
Thanks. Glad you like this image :)
