Butterfly

I have never seen this brown coloured insect before. So thought of posting this one for a change.

I'm thrilled to see that above picture is picked by Conservation Carbon Company in their blog.

Love the camouflage. Any idea on species?

Good close up, K.
This is the Common Palmfly Elymnias hypermnestra (Linnaeus, 1763)

Great capture K!

That brown colour looks quite unique too. Did you capture it at your home garden? I can see a tap in the background =D

Betsy,
Thanks. Yes it was natural lighting courtesy 'Sun' :)

Frieda,
Thanks!

George,
Thanks a lot. Yes it came up well.

Amaris,
Yes, it has a curious eye with some patterns

Offthebeatentrack,
I had no idea but Gallicissa just came up with the corrcet identification as usual

Gallicissa,
Thanks a lot for the identification. I think evenin sun did the trick

Sankara,
Not really, it is an average size one. The wing is about 2 inches or less.

Anjana,
Yes, it was my garden and that is my garden tap. I should have covered that up :)

Rainfield,
Hey, how do you know i'm in Malaysia :)

Thanks all for your comments!

Nice one! There is remarkably a lot of butterflies fluttering around, various kinds. I feel a big difference from last year, don't you?

Nicole,
Me too. Looks like a common specie. but this is the first time I saw one.

Bethcai,
Yes, it stayed there for a long time to give me enough time to get a good photo.

Amila,
Yes there was a time I hardly see any butterflies, but now I see quite a lot. But it is nothing like 20 years abck where I used to see 100s of butterflies in my area.

Thanks all for your comments!

Awesome close up K! The resolution is really high here and has picked up every fine detail. Changed your cam lately?

No it is still my old cam. Think I was helped by natural lighting. Am collecting money for a new one :)
