This picture was taken from the top of Sri Pada. The twin peaks are known as Bena Samanala.
As you may know, there are few routes to reach the top and the local letters in the picture directs you to Rathnapura, Palabaddala route. The same route will take you to Kuruwita, Erathna road as well as Maliboda route. The other route at the top is Hatton, Nallathanni route. Moraywaththa Trail also linked with Nallathanni route.

Yes. There is definitely line of sight between the top of Sri Pada and Rathnapura town.
I have never seen elephants on Erathna route but I have seen enough evidence. (E.g.droppings, fallen trees and paths created by elephants)

I have been to Siri Pada few times but never from the Ranthapura end.
Have you taken this pic on the same day you took the “Bena Samanala” pic? That steamy cloud pattern looks same in both the pics.

I too have not taken the Rathnapura / Palabaddala route yet. But I have covered a potion of it while doing the Kuruwita route.

Yes I have done Moraywaththa trail. It is a very interesting journey.
First you have to take usual Sri Pada route (Norton Bridge -Maskeliya route). At Mausakelle turn right towards Delhousie (Nallathanni) Bazaar. A few kilometers before Delhousie Bazaar, turn left towards Moraywaththa. This road goes very close to Maussakelle reservoir through some very scenic areas. Continue on this road towards fishing hut. The walk starts at a place before fishing hut. It is the shortest path to Sri Pada but bit tough one as you have to walk through the jungle.
Last time we did it during night and that is something I do not recommend anyone :)

Yes it is Sinhalese. Like many sub continent scripts, Sinhalese also comes from brahmi script.
