More from Sri Pada
This picture was taken from the top of Sri Pada. The twin peaks are known as Bena Samanala.
As you may know, there are few routes to reach the top and the local letters in the picture directs you to Rathnapura, Palabaddala route. The same route will take you to Kuruwita, Erathna road as well as Maliboda route. The other route at the top is Hatton, Nallathanni route. Moraywaththa Trail also linked with Nallathanni route.
The complete set of photos taken from the summit of Sri Pada is uploaded here.

Being there in the morning is just like being in the air surrounded by clouds.
Fu, thats just a smexy picture :P Love the sky. Your pictures are continually amusing me, especially the sky. looking forward for more.
Cheers!
Love that picture, K.... The twin peaks of Bena Samanala are gorgeous.... You are WAY up there in altitude, aren't you?
Betsy
Wow, beaitiful with a touch of the clouds.
wow, the twin peaks look amazing, especially with the hugging clouds.
Amila,
Yes, you feel just like a bird :D
Me-shak,
Any picture from this point will be most amusing. Some places are like that it is not the camera or the person who is taking it :)
Betsy,
Yes, over 7000 feet above sea level and this is one of the highest points in the island.
Rainfield,
Thanks bro :)
Betchai,
Yes, those peaks are amazing. Thanks a lot!
Beautiful picture K! I think on a clear night you can see the lights from the city of Rathnapura from up there... :D
I hear that there are Elephants on the Erathna trail! :D
Chavie,
Yes. There is definitely line of sight between the top of Sri Pada and Rathnapura town.
I have never seen elephants on Erathna route but I have seen enough evidence. (E.g.droppings, fallen trees and paths created by elephants)
That's an amazing view. So beautiful.
I live in a mountain region, too.
Our view looks like this:

sri pada is a definite must visit. the number of photos you've posted from the top of it proves it! thanks for sharing, K
Wow! Just beautiful!
I have been to Siri Pada few times but never from the Ranthapura end.
Have you taken this pic on the same day you took the “Bena Samanala” pic? That steamy cloud pattern looks same in both the pics.
Gorgeous!! :)
I should try the Moraywaththa Trail one day. Have you done it?
Frieda,
That is great to know. I saw your photos and your area is awesome!
Thanks a lot for your comments.
Loshini,
Yes, I may continue to post more photos from this wonderful place :)
Thanks very much for your comments.
Anjana,
I too have not taken the Rathnapura / Palabaddala route yet. But I have covered a potion of it while doing the Kuruwita route.
Both photos were taken on the same day same time :)
Thanks a lot for your comments.
Amaris,
Thanks very much!
Gallicissa,
Yes I have done Moraywaththa trail. It is a very interesting journey.
First you have to take usual Sri Pada route (Norton Bridge -Maskeliya route). At Mausakelle turn right towards Delhousie (Nallathanni) Bazaar. A few kilometers before Delhousie Bazaar, turn left towards Moraywaththa. This road goes very close to Maussakelle reservoir through some very scenic areas. Continue on this road towards fishing hut. The walk starts at a place before fishing hut. It is the shortest path to Sri Pada but bit tough one as you have to walk through the jungle.
Last time we did it during night and that is something I do not recommend anyone :)
Below photos were taken on the way back on the same trail

This is a beautiful picture, but all of the pictures in your slide show are just fabulous. Thanks for taking us along on your hike.
George,
You are most welcome! Your recent photos of the waterfalls are great :)
Thanks for your comments.
Beautiful mountain photo. It must be a wonderful feeling to be so far up.
Ratty,
Yep, it is a great place to be. Thanks a lot for your comments.`:)
What a cool photo. I think Sinhalese (? is that the correct word?) script is so beautiful!
Wow.. what a view! The blue toned ground almost appears like a sea between clouds.
PS: this pic has a 2D look in its thumbnail.. and I thought it was a poster at first. =D
Knatolee,
Yes it is Sinhalese. Like many sub continent scripts, Sinhalese also comes from brahmi script.
Thanks a lot for your comments.
Harumi,
Blue tone must have come cos it is early morning. Later in the day it turned to more greener haze.
May be the letters below made you think it is a poster :)
Thanks a lot.
Aleix,
Pls go ahead. Link backs are always welcome :)
Thanks for visiting and for your comments.
You seem to be always on the go - and far away to be able to show us the beautiful parts of your country. Something we all are proud of, ain't we?
Great post!
Bonnie Bonsai,
Yep, we all are proud of showing the beauty of the country you live.
