The View from the Top of Naula

This picture shows the view from the top of 'Naula' Kanda ('Kanda' means Mountain). Naula situated at the Northern edge of the central highlands of the island in the Matale District. Usually we do not get very high mountains in this area but the view is as good as anywhere as you see endless lowland towards North / East and Western directions and mountains towards South.

The climb to the top is not very difficult but somewhat challenging. First, you have to go through a small village and reach the base of the mountain. Middle path is a bit difficult to climb but towards the top it becomes easier. The top of the mountain is full of Mana (Type of grass which grows quite tall.)

The view from the top is stunning! There is no better reward than this after some laborious climbing!!

Wow.. that's such a stunning scenery indeed. By the way, no more pics from the summit? =D

oh and thanks for sharing.

It should be wonderful to reach the peak after a laborious climbing. It is even more fantastic the have pictures from the summit. I echo saying of Harumi.
Unluckily mine is covered by dense woods for any zero view at all.

That's an awesome view K! You must've been able to see the whole Dambulla area and possibly (on a clear day) even Sigiriya and possibly even Ritigala? (ok, I'm not sure about that... just thinking about geography and not reality here... hehe)

Lovely photo and I (like Harumi) would like to see some more pics (if you took them...) :)

Harumi,
Yes. The view was amazing. I could not take many pictures on the top but I’ll share a few more soon mostly on the way to the summit.

Rainfield61,
If the land is flat, difficult to get any views like this. Still your trail looks very absorbing. I have walked along similar trails in SL many a times and it is always thrilling as you never know what comes next..

Chavie,
Dambulla is not far from here and we could see that area quite well. Dambulu Gala and Sigiriya were visible but not very clear. A brighter day would have given a better view. Ritigala should be able to see on a clearer day, but I could not recognize it from there.

Thanks all for your comments and I shall share a few more pictures :)

Pretty, pretty view! Amazing shot. I like ...everything... including the rock accent towards the bottom. :)
I would love to see this in person!

Amaris,
This was one of the most interesting hikes I went. The mountain looked like this from the road.
The view was extra-ordinary here, and we thorughly enjoyed the entire hike!
