Above picture was taken while hiking along Thelgamu Oya to reach Sara Ella. Oya is a local name for tributary or Creek. More pictures are stored here.
We saw another small waterfall on the way. I think it is known as Punchi or Ihala Sara Ella. (Small or Upper Sara Falls)

Lovely!
Rajesh,
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot!
Nicole,
There were many similar places full of greenery along the river. Thanks for your comments.
Beauty! I'm trying hard to persuade my work mates to go on this very same expedition, hope they'll agree! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi, beautiful picture.. seems to be a nice place..
ReplyDeleteGreetings..
Another soul soothing view.
ReplyDeleteWhere there is water, there is a view to experiencing new earth beneath our feet.
ReplyDeleteMysterious and lush! Has me wanting to walk over to the edge! Beautiful and warm I imagine!!
ReplyDeleteAmila,
ReplyDeleteTry to have a team of 6-8 members. Do not make it more than that. Otherwise it'll be difficult to have a good time in this type of journeys. Best of luck with the trip. Let me know if you want more help.
Dejemonos,
Thanks mate for your comments.
Rainfield,
Glad you like it :)
Natural Moments,
Agree with you. It is more adventuorous when you have to travel through water ways.
Carol,
Thanks a lot for your comments. We had to descend over the ledge to reach at the falls. Quite a good journey!
Thanks all for your comments.
That's a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteI would like to sit down on these rocks and listen to the river...
Frieda,
ReplyDeleteThanks very much for your comments
Looks lovely, K! Hope you're having fun this long weekend. :D
ReplyDeleteChavie,
ReplyDeleteI will not be able to do anything interesting this long wkend due to work but planning to make amends next week somewhere in Lower Ohiya ( Most probably will have to ask for few days leave from office:p )
Have fun at Lower Ohiya!
ReplyDeleteThat area holds great promise for your hikers. I avoided a long weekend bird trip to Jaffna. (Too much travelling.)
Gallicissa,
ReplyDeleteYep, Lower Ohiya is one of the best area for hikers! I also missed a few chances to go to Jaffna. Didn't have enough time to block 3-4 days. Thanks a lot for your comments.
Hi KP Beautiful, you photo reminded me to take a break from the lab and go for a ride (bicycle). I just saw blue sky (we having a storm) :). No hiking but plenty of skiing for me this weekend. I am going snowboarding in 40-100 inches of powder( where I will be for next 3 days )If the highways are open I will go tonight otherwise tomorrow. Enjoy your upcoming trip
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful creek -- I would imagine that a hike along it would be very enjoyable. Of course, I also like the waterfall.
ReplyDeletethis spot looks aesome...great natural retreat
ReplyDeleteGreat capture!! What a beautiful area...
ReplyDeleteI'd love to disappear just beyond the ledge, myself. It's interesting that your path led through the stream, as opposed to beside it. Very cool!
Magerata,
ReplyDeleteWow what a great area - Alpine Meadows. Hope you are having a fab time over there. Just came back from Lower Ohiya.
George,
