The train journey to Badulla from Colombo is one of the best rides to enjoy the beauty of Sri Lanka. I mentioned some of the interesting trivia of this trip, in one of my earlier posts.
The train takes you up to about 6200 feet above sea level till Pattipola and then start to descend slowly towards Badulla. The highest point which is known as 'summit point' lies close to Pattipola Station.
The above picture was taken just before the train passes this summit level.

Oh yes..I used to live close to the main railway track when i was small, and I was quite fascinated with the locomotives. One of my best train experience was the climb to Mount Snowdon. That was a real train journey!

Hi Eva, what a lovely train ride that would be and this is a beautiful photo. My husband many, many years ago had the good fortune of visiting your country while he was in the navy. He said it was one of the most beautiful places he had ever visited and remember how much I enjoyed him retelling his experiences when he got back home.

ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for your comments! Yes you can view sceney on both sides. There is a place called Idalgashinna about two stations from this place. It is situated in a cliff where you can see both sides below. The scenery is amazing I will update them soon :)
